AGENCIES AND PROGRAMS

Fostering Self Sufficiency

The United Way of Millburn-Short Hills grants donations to targeted programs offered by local organizations to benefit our children, our elderly neighbors and others in the midst of family crisis or who are victims of abuse. In other words, your funds will go directly back to your own neighbors, helping to improve their lives.

"As a senior citizen who lives alone, I would have no means of getting to my weekly medical appointments if not for the MTAP program. I am so grateful for the occasional transportation assistance that lets me remain independent." MTAP recipient

"Dorothy has been living in her 2nd floor apartment in Short Hills for 25 years. At 90, she is very competent mentally but the thought of moving to another apartment is overwhelming. She receives Meals on Wheels 6 days a week and benefits from SAGE's shopping service. Her support system consists of an elderly cousin, SAGE Eldercare, and the Millburn Township Social Worker. Thank you, United Way, for supporting SAGE's work in Millburn Short Hills." SAGE Eldercare, Director of Development.

"CPS found Andrew L his job at TJ Maxx when he graduated from ECLC. With assistance from the United Way of Millburn Short Hills, Community Personnel Services is able to provide continual support for Andrew and other clients with disabilities. Andrew stocks shelves in the shoe department and helps maintain the parking lot. He enjoys his job very much and TJ Maxx considers him to be a valued employee." Alison Chernela, Executive Director, CPS.

"Your support for University Without Walls means that participating students do not have to face unvarying daily routines of loneliness, boredom, and mental inactivity and instead can look forward to the wit, wisdom, and warmth and transformative support of their peers during our teleconference calls." Vivian Fenster Ehrlich, Executive Director, Dorot

"We will use these funds to purchase new eyeglasses for area residents and to continue our "Community Connection" program that promotes volunteerism in the Millburn-Short Hills area. Thank you!" Susan Dyckman, Director of Development, New Eyes for the Needy

"Your generosity ensures that the Valerie Fund's mission to provide hope, care and compassion to children with cancer and blood disorders will continue." Barry Kirschner, Executive Director, the Valerie Fund
